Alkaloids
Alkaloids are found primarily in plants, especially in dicotyledonous families. They are localized in specific parts of the plant, such as the seeds, leaves, bark, or roots. Each of these sites may contain several closely related alkaloids. In plants, alkaloids largely occur as salts of common plant acids, including:
Acetic acid
Oxalic acid
Lactic acid
Malic acid
Tartaric acid
Citric acid
They may also occur as salts of certain specialized organic acids.
